We have carried out over 150 laser scanning projects ranging from glaciers to rollercoaster rides. We pride ourselves on the idea “If it stays still long enough, we can record it….”. Our FARO terrestrial laser scanning technology is ideal for van sized objects and spaces upwards to commercial architectural spaces, bridges, theatres, quarries and large scale sculpture. Benefits of laser scanning and 3D CAD modelling for recording and documenting spaces and objects are:
- Fast and accurate – 3mm accurate on 10m+ structures. Dimensional control survey networks using total station recorded targets avoids incremental errors inherent in cloud to cloud registration.
- Large scale – we have recorded inaccessible slate quarries some 200m wide from the rim and recorded half a kilometre of passageways in abandoned mines.
- Access – We are experienced at arranging safe working methods and access to get in and scan in a diverse range of environments. We have completed survey work at -25oC and at 40oC
- Clash analysis and as built documentation – overlay of as scanned structures with BIM or CAD models allows quick comparison of accuracy, areas of clash and visualisation of space for equipment access and logistics.
3D CAD modelling and reverse engineering – We have scanned and modelled steelwork, quarry walls and engine test bays from our scan data, providing the clients with accurate CAD models for downstream FEA, CFD and environmental analysis.
